HIGHLAND COVE
"This is one of the biggest mindf*ckery books I’ve read in a long time."
~~ ITY Reads Books

Picture

The storm came to life as electricity lanced like scars across the cloud’s bloated underbellies. Strobes flashed through the lobby’s high windows and burned light onto the walls. Shadows dispersed into the vaulted ceiling until all that remained was a dark figure coiled around the chandelier’s branches, watching them sleep.

THE DEAD CITY

"Unfortunately, in war, the good guys don’t always make it home and this is what gives The Dead City such a powerfully emotional pull."
~~ Shelley Wilson: author of the YA Fantasy novel Guardians of the Dead.

When the first scream of agony sliced through her earpiece, it was definitely female. The cry cut a trail of ice down her spine. She couldn’t identify who it was, or where the woman stood, but the scream became a gurgle quickly floundering into nothing. Jayde’s visor flashed with static as dust battered her, and when it cleared the first flash of a red flag twisted a stab of nerves deep in her gut. They were coming out of the storm—whatever the hell they were—many more than she’d assumed there would be.

THE DEAD LANDS

"The Dead Lands is a shining example of how excellent writing and a great plot come together to make a fantastic book."
~~ K. R. Rowe: author of the horror novel Blood of the Sixth.

The Berserker’s sight threw up a yellow flag in its display. Johan moved his face closer, peering into the scope’s illuminated display. A bulbous head appeared over the rubble, the scalp coated with scars, completely bald. A thick neck and broad shoulders moved into view. The creature’s slit eyes appeared as white holes in the gun’s sight, its nostrils just grooves in the skin, flaring as it sniffed the air. It gave a grunt, smelling Johan’s odor of perspiration and fear.

Not just one mutant either, by the sound of it.

This was an entire tribe.

THE SICKNESS

"a story-telling standard equal to some of the biggest names out there in horror today."
~~ Sharon Stevenson: best selling author of the Gallows series of horror novels.

Motionless against the wind, she stared at the water, at the place where Raymond Harris had been murdered, and her mind displayed his body on the grass: legs splayed wide, hands in the water, face submerged in black sludge. And her father’s last callous act: standing from their still warm child, turning his back, and walking away, muttering that if she cared so much she should bury him herself.

FLESH

"As good as any Stephen King book I've read."
~~ Terry Tyler: award winning Amazon novelist.

After sawing through the pubic bone, she cut each of his internal organs from the back wall of his torso and pulled out his intestines, discarding them into plastic bags.

Cutting internally, she removed his diaphragm, and then sawed the breastbone clear of his collarbone. His lungs, larynx and trachea all came out easily; maybe the wine was speeding up her progress. She had even started whistling. Red disguised the true color of his black heart. She spat on it, dumped it into the bag, and tied a knot in the plastic.

HOSTS

"(Hosts) is held together by nicely detailed characters and descriptive prose that results in a thrilling read."
~~ Shaun Jeffrey: horror author of The Kult and Deadfall

The old woman moaned, breaking the silence with the rattled breath of a dying soul.

Malcolm opened his eyes fully and looked up.

Betty Stenson’s head lolled from side to side, eyelids flickering, her face paled of all natural coloring. She smacked her lips together as if she’d vomit at any moment. Sweat beaded across her forehead, and the old woman’s chest heaved with panted breaths.

Steven stared at her, his countenance wrinkled with a look of horror. “She’s waking up.”

“She’s dying, you fool.”
